Daily Car Insurance

One Day Car Insurance For Under 21 Year Olds

An increasing popular form of insuring yourself to drive a car is to use a one day car insurance policy. This is where you can get insured for a short period of time rather than having to pay out for a full annual policy.

There are now a few specialist insurers that have started to offer different kinds of insurance to better fit different situations. A daily car insurance policy allows you to insure yourself to drive a car or van for up to 28 days. There are many different types of circumstance where you want to drive a car that you are not already insured to drive but do not need a whole years worth of car insurance to do so. You may just want to borrow a friends car to drive for the weekend.

Who can get day car insurance?

Unfortunately because of the temporary nature of this type of insurance it is only really commercially viable for the insurers to offer cover to the lower risk group of insurers. This generally means that if you are 25 or over you can get temporary cover from anywhere from one day up to 28 days.

Under 25 year olds are excluded because it is not really profitable for them to offer such short term insurance to high risk groups. In terms of car insurance the under 25 group are considered a much higher risk and so charge higher premiums. As the amount they charge for one day car insurance for under 21 year olds it does not really make it cost effective to provide this sort of service.

If you are under 25 and are unable to get daily car insurance then one alternative is to get a pay as you go policy. This allows you to get insurance for one month at a time, although it is more expensive than just getting insured for a single day it is still competitive. Getting this type of insurance means that you can get cover from the age of 17 years old.
