Insure A Car For 1 Or 2 Days

Have you ever needed to use a car for a couple of days but were unsure of where you stood in terms of insurance? You are not alone, many drivers in the UK are not sure whether or not they are covered on their car insurance to drive other cars or if other people can drive their car.

As it stands most of us will not be covered in our policies to allow other to drive our cars or indeed to be able to drive other peoples cars. If you have ever wanted to borrow a friend or relatives car for the weekend or even borrow a van you need to make sure that you are properly insured. If you were involved in an accident or stopped by the police you would be in trouble.

Day insurance for cars

You can however insure yourself to drive a car for a short period of time, in fact you could cover yourself to drive a car for a day for as little as a pound. You can apply and obtain a temporary policy online that will allow you to drive a friend, relatives, a hire car or even a car that you are test driving.

A daily car insurance policy will give you the same level of cover as a standard car insurance policy, the only difference is that you are only paying for the days that you need to drive the car. An additional benefit is that taking out a short term policy means that you or the car owners main annual policy will not be affected, that means no loss of your no claims.

Whilst most people will be eligible to get this type of insurance you may find it more expensive or more difficult to obtain cover for daily insurance under 21 years. Younger people, in fact anyone under 25 are a greater risk on the roads and are responsible in the UK for about a third of all road accidents. This means insurers may not insure you or place a much higher premium on your policy.
