For many drivers the daily car insurance policy is the convenient way to get one day insurance to drive either a car or a van. Previously you would have either had to get a full years policy or where appropriate get yourself added to the car owners policy or amend your own policy so that you can drive other vehicles on a third party basis.
There are many occasions where this sort of messing about is too time consuming, expensive or just not practical. One problem many people do not consider is that if they have an accident or have to make a claim they can lose their no claims. Where as if you take out a separate day insurance policy their no claims on their main policy will remain unaffected. Most drivers covet the no claims that they have accrued over the years to the point where they will not make a claim for fear of losing them.
Whilst these types of policy are very popular for those younger drivers it has been difficult to get insured on a daily basis. Day insurance under 21 is generally not available due to the high potential cost to the insurer. The under 25 age group is considered the highest insurance risk due to the high level of accidents and therefore claims amongst this group.
Insurers providing this type of temporary cover will general only provide insure to those who are 21 or over. The only alternative to a day insurance under 21 policy is a pay as you go monthly policy. This is where you pay for a minimum of one months worth of insurance and may suit some situations where a daily policy is not practicable.
